New E.coli strain reaches Europe
Illnesses can be avoided when we're careful about what we do and what we usually intake. Though we have been cautious we very often turn into a victim of negligence by companies that manufacture foods, beverages, and many others. Recently, there was a report that a new "super toxic" strain of E. coli bacteria is causing a serious outbreak of food poisoning in regions of Europe. Scientists believe it's originating from contaminated raw lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, but aren't 100% certain of the origin of such frightening illness yet. Based on the World Health Organization, this new strain of E. coli has recently killed at least 17 people in Germany and Sweden and sickened 1614 in 10 European countries including the two countries mentioned.
They claim that this bacterium, which is a mutant form of common E. coli - could possibly be much more dangerous than other typical outbreaks. It was asserted most strains of E. coli bacteria are harmless. But this one, which seems to have started in northern Germany, is an exception. It's being described as “the deadliest in human history". Scientists state that the bacterium features a rare mutation that binds it on the human intestine, where it produces a highly poisonous toxin. In Hamburg, Philipp, a 29 year old photojournalist became a victim of this new strain of E. coli and endured stomach aches and bloody stools; then he developed neurological symptoms and couldn't feel his left arm or leg. Despite three blood plasma transfusions to clean toxins out of his blood, he hasn't improved. He remembered eating some vegetables the evening before he got sick. But while suspicion has fallen on raw tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce as being the source of the germ, researchers have been struggling to pinpoint the food that may be accountable for the illness.
The WHO recommends that to stop food-borne illnesses, people should always wash their hands, keep raw meat separate from other foods, thoroughly cook their food, and wash fruits and vegetables, especially if eaten raw. Experts also recommend peeling raw vegatables and fruits when possible. With this outbreak, we should be cautious on the things we consume. One of the best tips on how to avoid such diseases would be having good water filter in your home.
Have yourself a good water filter at your residence. An excellent choice would be purchasing RO Water Filters that is done affordably to set up and maintain by HealthyWaterSupply. It's better to be one step ahead than be sorry and ill. Prevention is definitely far better than cure.
